1. Dennis Dixon, Oregon He started the season red-hot and has been consistent from week to week. In Oregon's loss to Cal, Dixon had the Ducks in a position to take the game into overtime. Dixon gives Oregon's offense a run-pass option you don't see as often in college football these days. The three offenses I really like to watch are Florida, West Virginia and Oregon. Dixon gives the Ducks a diversified attack. In terms of his draft status, Dixon has made a monumental leap -- going from a late-round pick at the start of the season to someone who could go in the early rounds. 2. Tim Tebow, Florida Everyone knows Tebow, who gets beat up every week and has played with an injured right shoulder, is a threat and he still gets the job done. He's the most powerful running QB I have ever seen. He's virtually unstoppable as a runner and is very effective as a passer. He plays through pain, is a great leader and is coming off another big game (five touchdown runs, two touchdown passes at South Carolina). If Florida didn't have three losses, Tebow would be the leading candidate. 3. Darren McFadden, Arkansas He ran for over 100 yards on Saturday against Tennessee, but he was quiet in the first half and the Volunteers did a good job of shutting down Arkansas' ground game. McFadden isn't as dynamic as Adrian Peterson in terms of shedding tacklers between the tackles, but his production speaks for itself. And when you add in the fact that Arkansas doesn't have much of a passing game, his numbers are even more impressive. You can still make the argument that McFadden is the best football player in the country. |
